Shatavari, the Indian asparagus (Asparagus racemosus), is one of the best-known Ayurvedic herbs that has been used in Ayurveda since ancient times. It is considered in Ayurveda to be a rejuvenating herb with a variety of supportive properties for well-being, especially for women.

The name "Shatavari" means "she who has 100 husbands". It is also known as the "queen of herbs" and helps to balance the pitta and vata dosha in the body.

According to Ayurveda, it supports balya (strength and immunity) and vayasthapna (anti-ageing) and the vitality and vigour of women.

Shatavari has the following characteristics:

Rasa (flavour) is sweet (Madhura) and bitter (Tikta).
Guna (physical property) is heavy (Guru) and oily (Snigdha).
Virya (potency) is cold (Sheetal).
Vipaka (effect) is sweet (Madhura).
